My name is John Morris. I am a musician turned programmer turned system
administrator currently employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, but on the
weekends, I let my retro 70's ponytail down and play rock and roll with a local
"Oldies" band called Streetkar.

I was born in December of 1952 and was reared in a little community on the
outskirts of Birmngham, Alabama called Minor Heights. I attended McDonald Chapel
Elementary School, and later graduated from Minor High School. I studied music
from the time I was 6 years old and upon graduation from high school, went on to receive
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano from Birmingham-Southern College.
After Graduation from college in 1976, I went to work with my Dad in his dental
laboratory business. I worked there for 9 years, all the while playing in local
rock and roll bands. My Dad retired in 1985. I didn't want to continue in the dental
laboratory business, so I went back to school part time and learned a little about
computers and programming them. The rest is history.

From 1985-88 I was employed by the Bruno's food store chain, working in their data
processing department as first, a data processing clerk and then later as the night
shift computer operator. Beginning in January of 1989, I went to work for Cycare
Systems, Inc. as a Junior Programmer. Cycare closed it's Birmingham office 8 months
after I started and that's when I went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield. I managed
to progress up the ranks in the Systems Development department as a Cobol programmer
until I maxed out as a Systems Analyst. Then I moved into the Claims Department to help
inplement a new imaging system, and that is where I remain today. Administering
that original system, along with a couple of others that I helped put together
over the last 5 years.
